Cotswolds & Afternoon Tea at the home of an Earl
The afternoon tea in the Cotswolds experience is a private tour, so you have the complete flexibility to decide what you would like to do on the day. Whether it be more time at Stanway House or more in the Cotswolds, we can adapt everything to your request. We would always suggest at least 6 hours for a tour but 7-8 is preferable. Here is an example of an 8 hour tour that we would recommend.

Paint me a picture:
Departing at around 10am we would start the day off visiting the beautiful village and ancient ruins of Minster Lovell. This pretty village on the River Windrush boasts plenty of Cotswold stone and thatched roofs, as well as holding the title of being the region’s most haunted village. Minster Lovell is perhaps best known for the ruins of its 15th century hall, owned by generations of the Lovell family.
From Minster Lovell your route takes you through some enchanting Cotswold villages to Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ and is arguably the most famous Cotswolds town. It’s regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England.
Our next stop is the picturesque village of Lower Slaughter, one of the most romantic villages in the Northern Cotswolds and set in the most amazing countryside. From Lower Slaughter we then continue on to Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. Here you will have time to browse among honey-coloured buildings, cosy pubs, narrow streets, interesting shops and tiny tea rooms.
We then approach this magnificent manor house and enjoy a private tour of the property finishing off with some afternoon cream tea out in their wonderful garden.
If starting and finishing in Oxford then we could stop off at the enchanting hidden village of Great Tew. There is a wonderful story surrounding the recent history of this magical place.
This is a private tour so we can drop you off anywhere in the region from the Cotswolds, Oxford to Bath and London. Just send us an email and we will tailor it with you.
We can collect you from anywhere in Oxford or the northern Cotswolds for free. If you would prefer a pick up from further afield then we will be happy to help, but a small surcharge will apply.
To enjoy this afternoon tea in the Cotswolds experience we would normally recommend 8 hours for this private tour, depending on where your starting point is. We would operate a tour from anywhere between 8-12 hours in length.
If starting in the Cotswolds or Oxford area then pickup is completely free and the cost would be £625 for a group of up to 8 people for 8 hours.
If you would rather be picked up from further afield like London then we would be happy to help. Just add £250 to the price. If you come from a local town or city please contact us. We are very flexible! You can find more details in the ‘How to get there’ tab.

The start time for the private tour is flexible and we can collect you from anywhere in the Cotswolds, Stratford, Oxford, Bath or London. The tour is ideal for a day trip from any of these areas.
If coming from London then the easiest and cheapest option is to take a train direct from London Paddington or London Marylebone to Oxford station. From here we can pick you up for free!
However, if you wish to make things easier and less stressful then we can pick you up and drop you off from anywhere in the region including London. Please note that pick-up and drop-off outside of the Northern Cotswolds and Oxford will incur an extra fee which are listed below.

What is the minimum/maximum number of people on the tours?
The minimum is 1 person and the maximum is 8 people. For larger groups please send us an email to discuss availability and pricing.
Does this tour cover entrance into Stanway House?
Yes and it also includes a private tour of the manor and afternoon cream tea.
Can I be picked up from London/Bath/Stratford?
Yes we can collect from any of these areas but there is an extra fee. Please see the ‘How to get here?’ tab for more info.
Where does my tour start from?
Your private tour can start from anywhere in the region of the Cotswolds or any nearby town or city including London. We can collect your from the anywhere in the North Cotswolds or Oxford for free.
If coming from further away like London then the cheapest option is the train into Oxford. Otherwise we can happily collect you ourselves for an extra cost.
Can I add in notable attractions like Warwick Castle? Or do a tour of a local city like Oxford or Bath?
Yes that is no problem at all if on a private tour. In fact many of these combine ideally with a tour of the Cotswolds. However, any extra entrance fees will be added to the cost of your tour. However, please be aware that any extra areas may reduce the amount of time for your afternoon tea in the Cotswolds experience.
What are the payment arrangement for the tour?
We require full payment at the time of booking.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy is 100% of the cost charged for cancellations within 48 hours prior the tour. 50 % of the cost is charged for cancellations 3 – 7 days before the tour. For cancellations given 8 days and greater before the tour then we charge a 10% cancellation fee.
